sEASONAL iNDIE AUTHOR SPOTLIGHT (sPR. 2023)

Part of Lucky Ace Publishing's mission, per the goals of founder Cassandra Diviak, is to highlight indie authors in short but meaningful profiles every season (4 times a year) to create an uplifting community of support for authors in their debut stage.

Support is pivotal to the growth of indie author platforms. Without the support and social capital that traditional publishing houses have on the market and readers, indie authors often need to fend for themselves. Marketing changes with the algorithim, which constanly switches and leaves authors scrambling to follow trends. As indie authors wear so many hats, it can be taxing to focus on marketing and cultivating a platform. Thus, the Seasonal Spotlight was born. 

So, for Spring 2023's Indie Author, Lucky Ace Publishing is excited to welcome our selected author: 

Arista Holmes

Arista Holmes is a fantasy author who hails from South East England. Her primary genres are fantasy and science fiction, although she has an appreciation for a vast range of genres. She credits her parents for inspiring her with their appreciative encouragement for her to read and read as a child. 

In her words, "..writing has always been an escape for me, a way to back away from the world, and anything that's bothering me, and disappear into a world of my own creation, where anything is possible", hence the adoration for the fantasy genre as a whole.

On her best writing advice, Holmes states, "Be passionate about your projects" because "...there's a whole slew of advice out there for writers. Some of it good, some bad, and some of it is neither, it's just advice that may or may not work for you."

Additionally, she credits a spontaneous "What If...?" question about the movie Dark Waters as the initial inspiration for Changeling and most of her stories start similarly. She wanted to explore the concept of poisoned blood and from there, a whole world came to fruition. ​

As for her upcoming projects, according to Holmes, "I'm currently working on Book Two of the Fey Touched Trilogy, Darkling. I'm keeping a lot of the details quiet right now, but it should be out later this year". Changling, Book 1 of The Fey-Touched Trilogy, follows Lizzy Hail as she uncovers the mystery behind what happened to her mother and ends up with more than she bargained for when she leaves the safety of the fae realm for the mortal world.

This story is described as a romantic portal fantasy story with fae, vampire, and original lore by Holmes. PUB DAY: 03/16/2023
